In addition to having responsibility for the Capital Region’s public safety infrastructure 24/7, CREST’s talented engineers are always looking at ways to improve service and make the lives of their user agencies a little easier. One of the dispatchers at SICC (Police Dispatch) operates from a wheelchair which can make using some of the critical tools, like foot pedals that control push to talk (PTT) a bit challenging. Learning of this, CREST engineers designed an interface circuit that works with a desk microphone assembly to provide a desktop PTT button that is easy for this individual to operate. The response was a happy one.

Emergency Preparedness Week 2021
This past year, we’ve all learned the value of public safety.
The pandemic has brought public health and safety to the forefront and is a reminder of why it’s so important to have systems in place that help keep us all safe.
CREST provides emergency radio communications exclusively to 50 emergency response and public service agencies in B.C.’s Capital Region. In the case of a natural disaster, the CREST system is designed to allow for redundancy ensuring that fire departments, police departments and ambulance services can speak to each other and back each other up.
BC’s Emergency Preparedness Week is the perfect time to review your own family or business’s emergency preparedness. We each have a role to play. Put together an emergency preparedness kit and have a plan so that you and your loved ones are able to take care of yourselves and one another for at least 72 hours.
