With Rogers Communications (Rogers) in the approval process to build new cell towers in the Pacific Rim (between Otter Point and Port Renfrew) and on the Gulf Islands (Channel Ridge on Salt Spring Island), CREST welcomes a collocation agreement with Rogers that will allow for reliable public safety communications in these rural areas that are currently underserved.
CREST has been trying to secure additional network sites on Salt Spring Island since 2005. Strong letters of support were received from all first responder groups on the Island. These front- line perspectives were instrumental in convincing the majority of the Trustees that this infrastructure was necessary for public safety and CREST is grateful for their advocacy. A CREST presence covering these more remote locations will strengthen the safety of first responders and the public.
