Councillor Kyara Kahakauwila

Metchosin Councillor Kyara Kahakauwila has served as a CREST Director for more than 8 years and is a member of the Governance Committee. Kyara first entered municipal politics in 1999 becoming the youngest woman to be elected to public office in Canada. Kyara served three consecutive terms on Metchosin Council before taking a break to focus on her children and her family business. In 2018, Kyara was recognized as one of Vancouver Island’s top entrepreneurs at the Top 20 Under 40 Business and Community Achievement Awards. Kyara’s commitment to her community has remained a constant passion and she returned to municipal politics in 2006 serving once again on Metchosin Council.
